| *The video highlights the future potential
of smart cards, and does not necessarily reflect current JCB
smart card capability. |

DualPlus is JCB's dual interface smart card. This is a multifunction
card with a single chip and two interfaces, contact and contactless,
as well as a linkage function. The DualPlus card not only costs
less to issue than JCB's hybrid smart card, which incorporates two
separate chips, but the linkage allows information sharing between
contact and contactless functions.

This card features an EMV-compliant contact interface. For the contactless
interface, we adopted the popular FeliCa* specification that is
already in use in a number of transportation systems around Asia.
DualPlus was developed in technological cooperation with the three
world-renowned companies of Sony, Hitachi, and Toppan Printing,
and is the first dual interface card compliant with EMV and FeliCa.
*FeliCa is a registered trademark of Sony Corporation.

The linkage function supports information sharing between the contact
and contactless interfaces. For example, cardmembers can purchase
transportation value with a credit payment through the contact interface
on a home PC and smart card reader, and then use the value through
the contactless interface at an automatic ticket gate. This linkage
function integrates the smart card's across both contact and contactless
devices for optimal flexibility in use.

First of all the DualPlus with only one chip is much cheaper than
the hybrid smart card, which has two separate chips for contact
and contactless interfaces.
Secondly, regardless of whether the environment is contact or contactless,
the linkage function can transfer the value or information on the
chip between the two interfaces as needed.

As you have seen in the video, the multi-functionality of the DualPlus
smart card delivers more - and more enjoyable - services to cardmembers,
using both contact and contactless functions.
