EC-Merchants who deal in commerce other than the businesses, merchandise, and services below are considered to have fulfilled the JCB standard of merchant requirements.

JCB will not accept online merchants offering the sales of goods and/or services :
  1. That could in any way be regarded as pornographic, related to gambling or lotteries, or based on offering a telephone or chat service that could in any way be regarded as being of a sexual nature.
  2. That are considered illegal under the laws of the country or area where cardmembers reside.

EC-Merchants dealing with the following merchandise would have to consult with us in more detail :

  1. Food, supplements, or equipment used to promote or improve
    health ;
  2. Goods or commodities whose price is easily subject to market fluctuations ;
    ( For example, gold, platinum, stocks etc.)
  3. Cosmetics and drugs which could be confiscated by customs of the country where cardmembers reside.
JCB will require all EC-Merchants to use a security system for the transmission of transaction data incorporating credit card information over the Internet or over only other open network.

Required Security System
As a tentative solution until SET (Secure Electronic Transaction) is fully established, encryption of communications between a cardmember and a merchant by Netscape SSL ver 2.0 or more secure methods and construction of a firewall in the merchant server is approved as a security standard for transactions through computer networks such as the Internet.
